LAW SHOULD BE STRENGTHENED FURTHER;

Law protecting the rights and interests of women and children should be strengthened further, said state women and children welfare director A.K.Monnappa.

Presiding over the legal aid programme organized at Balbhavan here yesterday, Monnappa opined that the evils of the society like child labour and dowry need to be curbed further with the steel hands of law.

Inaugurating the programme, the district and sessions judge Venkatesh regretted that people bring minor domestical problems to court which could very well be settled in family level. He felt that minor disputes should be settled outside the court.

Civil judge Srikanth vatavati called upon the people to reap the benefits of legal Forum.

FOVERNMENT MAKING MONEY IN THE NAME OF AIDS;

The HIV infected Veenadari, a lady trying to create awareness said here yesterday that the Indian governments are trying to get funds from western countries by falsely publicizing that India is going to be in first place as far as AIDs is concerned.

Addressing scribes herein a meet the press programme , she regretted that government and organizations project AIDs victims as disabled and dangerous. Giving her example that she is still healthy even after HIV was detected in her 15 years ago, Veenadhari said that they have every right to live in the society and also have the capacity to with stand any other diseases contrary to the statements that their body loses resistance power. By eating raw vegetables, fruits and healthy food one can withstand the effects of HIV, she hinted.

She said that though there are no medicines to cure the disease, many companies are plundering money by issuing false advertisements and assurances by claiming that they can cure this disease. She opined that government should not ignore five crore and odd HIV patients suffering in the country and try to support them. Awareness should be brought about the disease with a stress that it is also just another disease.

Press club president Anil H.T. was present. J.Belliappa introduced Veenadhari. G.Chidvilas anchored the programme.

ANOTHER LIFER;

The Fast Track court here has sentenced to life a person brutally killing his wife.

Soligara Sannappa of Basavanahalli near Kushalnagar had reportedly killed his wife by beating her with firewood and attacking with a billhook, last year.

Accused is sentenced to life and ordered to pay a fine of rupees five thousand.
