MURDERER GETS LIFER;

A murder accused killing a girl is sentenced to life by the district and sessions judge.

K.U.Balakrishna of Somwarpet is sentenced to life and slapped with a fine of rupees two thousand.

It was alleged that Balakrishna had way laid a girl Meena inside Jamboor estate near Somwarpet during July, 2003 and attacked her with a billhook. Receiving deep cuts all over, Meena died on the spot.

According to police, she was murdered as retaliation to her complaining about his character. He had also sold the gold chain she was wearing during the murder.

TIGER ATTACK CONTINUES;

Tiger attack on live stock continues in South Kodagu creating fear in the minds of people.

A pig became the victim of tiger attack yesterday after series of attacks on cows and buffaloes. The fifty kilo pig was feasted over by the tiger yesterday night from the house of one Kotrangada Arasu of Kumtur village near Srimangala.

The residents have warned the forest officials of staging serious protests if the tiger is not captured. The officials have repeated that they cannot capture the tiger without the permission from the government. The department is only trying to video graph the tiger to apprise the government about its presence and menace.
