‘KANNADADA KANDA’ BY LEELAVATHY;

Kannada cine actress Leelavathy will shortly release a movie “Kannadada Kanda “ produced by her.

Leelavathy was found at Madikeri along with her son Vinodh Raj, on her way to Bangalore. She disclosed that the movie is a joint venture with her son.

The actors were returning from Mangalore after attending a private function.


PANCHAYATH PRESIDENT LATHI CHARGED;

President of a Gram Panchayath, along with others were lathi charged at madikeri, creating tension.

The incident took place on the night of Monday during a ganesha procession. Hartal broke inside a hotel as a group of people taking out procession entered a hotel at the heart of the town. The hotel owner lodged a complaint with the police as the youth resorted to clashes. Police team led by circle inspector Krishnakumar resoted to caning. The K.Nidugane president Deen Bopanna arrived at the spot and tried to convince the police to stop caning. Instead, police reportedly attacked him and continued to chase the members. Tension broke as police forcibly immersed the Ganesha idol taken in procession by the group.

Deen Bopanna and four others were hospitalized at night.

BJP leaders rushed to the hospital and then to police station and urged action against the police. Later a meeting was held in the office of the MLA K.G.Bopaiah in the presence of BJP leaders, protestors and police. Police apologized to have beaten the GP president and assured not to book case against anyone. The matter was settled amicably.

GOVERNMENT RESPONDS TO DEMANDS;

The government has honored several pending demands and has shown positive response, said MLC Arun Machaiah.

Addressing scribes here yesterday, Machaiah said that crores of rupees were sanctioned to many stagnant demands due to his pressure. He disclosed that a post of Joint director’s post is sanctioned to Sainik Board in the place of Asistant directors post.

Rupees 1.04 crore was sanctioned for temple renovations in the district, a project that was nearly cancelled. Rupees 25 lakh for Kootiyala road, rupees 23 crore for Virajpet – Kerala high way, establishing an Excise distribution centre at Gonicoppa was also sanctioned, Machaiah said.

He also said that the families of those who died in calamities related to rainfall were sanctioned rupees fifty thousand each from the Chief Ministers relief fund.

He said that the district has submitted a thirty crore damage report to government due to flood and he is trying to get the amount sanctioned.

Machaiah lambasted former MLC A.K.Subaiah and said that he is supporting the much opposed mining and mini hydel projects in the district. These activities are taking place in spite of the supreme courts order to stop them, he said. He also named Manu Shenai, a journalist supporting A.K.Subbaiah in his activities.

He also warned police against fixing innocents in connection with the murder of a mining employee at Bittangala recently. He also urged the officials to transfer immediately Dr.Devadas involved in corruption.
