PILOT PROJECT TO COLLECT HONEY;

Chief executive of Karnataka Khadi board, R.Rameshappa told that the government has implemented a pilot project to train tribes in collecting honey and called to make use of it.

Rameshappa was addressing a seminar organized at Thithimati near Gonicoppal yesterday.A seminar to train Tribes to convey the importance of honey in Ayurveda by Khadi Board, Federation of Tribes Market Development at Thtimathi.

Informing the role of Honey in Ayurvedic medicine, CEO called upon tribes to adopt modern methods to collect honey especially from wild honey combs.

DFO nagarajachar spoke on the occasion and said that Tribes are a part of the forest. He said that they should make their presence felt by protecting the forest. Information officer Vinodchandra adviced the Tribes to make use of the benefits provided to them by the governm,ent.

Organiser of Honey industry and commerce, Bangalore, S.Indushekar stated that Honey industry in Kodagu is diminishing and rejuvenation measures has to be taken up by the government.

Presiding over the meeting president of the Lamps society said with strong words that they are protecting forests. If we were destrying its revenue we would be living in Bungalows today and not in huts, he said. Many officials spoke on the occasion.

COD PROBE URGED;

Gonicoppal Chamber of Commerce president M.K.Nanjappa and other citizens have urged to conduct CoD enquiry into the alleged misappropriation in Community Health Centre at Gonicoppal.

In a letter addressed to the Deputy commissioner they have alleged that money collected by Health protection committee was misappropriated by the Centre.

They also said that MLC Arun Machaiah is poking his nose in the Hospital administration. They urged DC to rectify irregularities in the hospital early or they may have to stage protest.

MEET ADJURNED WITH PROTEST;

The Town Panchayath meeting yesterday had to be post poned as the members staghed a walk out protesting against the irregular supply of water.

The meeting chaired by the president Usha tejaswi had to be postponed as her own party members and opposition shouted at the water shortage and walked out.

The protesting members alleged that portion of the town is not receiving water from forty days. They said that trees have fallen on electricity line and the KEB has not rectified the fault.

The memberd were not satisfied by the answer given by the president and Chief Officer. They said that heavy rainfall has caused falling of several trees and vehicles could not reach the spot where the wires are cut.

The meeting was postponed to 25th.
