KERALITE DONE TO DEATH;

A youth from Kerala was shot at by a group in a mining spot at Virajpet taluk yesterday.

Opposition by the villagers of Bittangala to a mining activity ended in killing of a person belonging to the mining unit yesterday evening.

Superintendent of police Ramachandra Rao today said that a group led by one Machaiah shot at Joman Jose , 25 and killed him on the spot. Clashes were going on between two groups since two years and it increased since a week. The matter went to court as people blocked the right of way to the mining contractors.however, the court brought a stay two days ago and the contractors started to move round. They had to pass through few estates.

Yesterday, deceased Jose and others, supported by their advocate began to remove some plants planted by villagers on the way. The group of villagers led by another advocate came to the spot and attacked Jose with boulders. As he fell down, Machaiah shot him from a close range.

SP said that complaint is lodged against eleven persons. Four persons are taken into custody for enquiry. Main accused along with the weapon is absconding. Investigation is on.

Body of the deceased is kept in the mortuary.

COMPUTORS STOLEN FROM SCHOOL;

Computors worth lakhs was stolen from a school at Besur high school near Shanivarsanthe on the night of 20th.

According to police culprits broke into the school at night and decamped with six computers, a printer and a generator.

Bout ten computers were stolen from thje same school during 2004 and seven of them were recovered by police at Arakalgodu, earlier.

Cost of the stolen articles are worth 2.5 lakh according to the school authorities.

STATE GOVERNMENT IS A CURSE TO THE STATE;

MLA and former minister R.V.Deshpande told here that the BJP – JDS government in the state is a curse to the state.

Addressing a press conference here yesterday he predicted that the government is counting its last days. He opined that the congress will plan its future strategy to rule the state during the visit of AICC president Sonia Gandhi at Bangalore on September 3.

Deshpande ridiculed Chief minister Kumarswamy and said that he is in such a position that he should keep reminding himself every often that he isn the Chief Minister He attacjked the decision to ban mining and said that this idea is backed by selfish motive.

DCC president Veena Achaiah, KPCC member Mittu Chengappa, former ministers M.M,.Nanaiah, T.John were present.
