ILLEGAL MINING IN RESERVE FORESTMadikeri Aug. 21 The mining allegation is shaking the Govt. from the bottom level. The mining fever is not only exists in Bellary or North Karnataka. The illegal mining is found in kodagu also. “Kavery Sene” an organization is continuously fighting against illegal mining especially found in Somwarpet thaluk. Meanwhile the “Times” captured a mining string at the reserve forest area in kushalnagar. The place is called “Ane Kadu”. More elephants live in the forest. The citizens also safe in the surrounding places as he elephants freely move and get their food in the thick reserve forest. The miscreants did not leave the environment intact. They plan for quick earning. A gang started mining in the reserve forest. It has reached to the maximum extent. They cut the trees; spoil the environment . They disturb the normal animal life. Already wild elephants started attacking in Nanjrayapatna,Gondibasavanahalli and Harangi areas near kushalngar. They are continuously disturbed by the dynamite blasting and movement of lorries inside the reserve forest in the Gobndibasavanahalli and Hudgur reserve forest limits. The local residents complain against the involvement of forest officials. They disclose the officials and forest staff are a well aware of the mining inside the forest. No action has been taken so for. They are well feeded to get the needed and indirect permission is given to carry out the illegal activities. More than 100 labourers are engaged and they have formed their dwelling places nearby illegally occupying the paisari lands. The main persons behind the activities have hidden their identities to avoid any legal consequences against them. The involvement of forest officials is a big boon to them.
