CNC MEETS CHIEF MINISTER;

The members of the Codava National Council yesterday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Kumarswamy.

Holding a protest at Cubbon Park, the CNC, led by its general secretary N.U.Nachappa met the CM and demanded that Kodavas be considered as tribes, autonomy to villages and constitutional security to the community.

He made it clear to the Chief Minister that they are not fighting for a separate state.The politicians are misleading the government by such statements, he said. He also said that the problems of Kodagu could be solved only by giving constitutional support and not by giving a berth in the cabinet to a Kodava.

He said that while only few Kodavas are considered as rich, rest are all living under poverty.

COALITION GOVERNMENT CASH THIRSTY;

Former minister M.C.Nanaiah charged that the coalition government in the state is cash thirsty and has no interest towards development.

Ddressing a press conference here he alleged that both JDs and BJP are interested only in plundering money and not bothered about the interest of the state. Stating that no other government was as corrupt as the present one in the state, Nanaih predicted that the government led by Kumarswamy will collapse shortly. He opined that a movement has to begin to remove the present government and advised to Kumarswamy to dissolve the government on his own to save his face.

Nanaiah ridiculed the deputy chief ministers scheme to provide cycles to school girls and termed it as madness. While the students have no proper benches to write and toilets in the school, person like Ediyurappa is venturing into impractical schemes, he regretted. He also questioned the government’s decision to adopt villages each year and said that government does not have so much of money to spend on these schemes.

Nanaiah attacked the district administration here and said that rain damage fund is not utilized properly. He ridiculed the people’s representatives and questioned where has the promised fund in crores of rupees released for the repair of roads and other developments gone? We can only see them walking with the district in charge minister when he visits Kodagu and no development is done in practical sense, he commented.

Nanaiah clarified that he and his followers does not belong to any faction of the Janatha dal and will continue to be neutral.

TREES SEIZED;

Forest officials have seized trees worth lakhs cut illegally in many parts of the district in the recent week.

A lorry transporting valueable tree logs at Sampaje gate was intercepted by forest mobile squad on eighteenth. Logs worth rupees two lakh along with the lorry was seized.

In another incident logs worth fifteen thousand was seized one Thimmaiah at Peraje, rupees fifteen thousand woth logs from Loknath of Balamuri.

Rupees two lakh worth rose wood was seized from Pemmaiah of Shirangala. Rupees 1.75 lakh worth rosewood hidden in a coffee estate of one Akkamma at Haleri was also seized. Rupees 1.5 lakh worth rosewood was seized fro Karumbaiah of Attur Nallore.
