PRISONERS SHARE INDEPENDENCE DAY SWEETS;

The district prison inmates here shared sweets and thoughts with the journalists association yesterday to mark the Independence Day.

Inaugurating the function, the superintendent of police Ramachandra Rao stated that with pure and determined mind people can achieve success.

Rao gave examples of how rudely prisoners are being punished in western countries and said that while in India they are trained to change their outlook.

Mentioning about an accused throwing a footwear at the judge and another abusing him during the pronouncement of judgments recently, he said that police and judiciary function only according to law and their personnel views are not counted here. He called upon the under trials to respect the law of the land.

Information and Publicity officer Vinodh Chandra spoke on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of journalists association in organizing a function inside the prison.

President Shashidar presided over the function. Secretary C.N.Somesh compered.

SEVEN BOOKED FOR USING LPG;

Food and civil supplies department has registered case against seven people using LPG in their vehicles at Virajpet.

Tahasildasr Shakuntala has appealed to people not to use domestical cylinders in vehicles.
