VILLAGERS INVADED POLICE STATION

The Hanagal villagers near Somwapet have invaded the Somwarpet Police satation demanding the arrest of the accused in an assault case.The police have registered a case against the Hanagal Village Panchayath member Raju Ponnappa,,Umesh,Jagadish and Ramakrishna. The accused have assaulted a the village canteen owner B.V.Suresh using the Hockey stick and other weapons. Alwin a friend of Suresh has also been assaulted. The injured are admitted to hospital,.

The agitators did not moved from the police station and until the accused are arrested the agitators waned that they will sit in the station premises., DYS P Jairam assured them, all the accused will be arrested soon.. They have been absconded he told .The village women folk also joined in the protest.

ROBBED ORNAMENTS

Unknown miscreants have broke open the lock of a house during day time itself and have carried away the ornaments worth Rs. 29 thousand at Mugutageri Village near Ponnampet.

The house wife Bojamma had attended some outside work and when she came back to house during noon hours she was astonished to see the doors were opened. The robbers have broke open the almira and have taken away the ornaments kept inside. The j empty jewel box was thrown away. The police are investigating and engaged dog squad.

WILD ELEPHANT MENACE

Madikeri July 8

The wild elephant menace was found in the nearby forest areas when villagers walk through the forest roads. The elephants are now directly entering the residential areas also. During midnight hours the elephant was dragging a jack tree near the house of Shivappa of yadavare village near Somwarpet. When the cracking sound heard Shivappa went outside the house and litted the torch and was frightened to watch an elephant cutting down the jack tree.

The elephant fled away from the spot and Shivappa went inside of relief. Within few minutes the elephant angrily attacked Shivappa’s house and damaged the roofing. Shivappa and his wife Gangamma absconded from the backside door.
