SCRIBES CALLED TO MAINTAIN DISTANCE;

Former minister M.C.Nanaiah called upon the journalists to maintain a healthy distance from politicians to deliver impartial service to the society.

Nanaih was addressing after inaugurating prize distribution ceremony on the occasion of Silver Jubilee celebration of district journalists association here yesterday evening. Nanaiah accused media taking sides in National level and said that this will lead to the collapse of administration. He regretted that the media is not delivering the expected result. He also opined that the competition, which should have been there to deliver quality, is being deviated to take hold on administration.

Former MLA D.S.Madappa stated that the media in the district has etched a name for its quality and impartiality. Advisor of the association, H.M.Annappa spoke on the occasion. Prizes were distributed to the winners of sports and different competitions conducted for journalists and public. President Shashidar presided over.

Later in at night, humourists Richard Louis, Krishne Gowda, Narasimha Murthy and Mysore Anandh enthralled the audience through their talks.

BLACK FLAG FOR BASAVAJAYANTHI;

The district Veerasheiva Samaj has warned to hold black flag during the celebration of basava jayanthi by district administration.

Convenor mahadevappa told scribes that the district administration has converted the celebration into a government affair and has not invited any of its members to it.

District administration would be celebrating the Jayanthi tomorrow, the thirtieth at Madikeri.
