KANCHI SEER VISITS TALACAUVERY;

Kanchi seer Jayedra Saraswathi visited Talacauvery today along with his disciples and left for Mysore.

Jayendra Saraswathi arrived at Bhagamandala, 8 kms from Talacauvery yesterday night and stayed there. He was on a private visit with no security and convoy of vehicles. He performed pooja yesterday at Bhagamandala Bhagandeshwara temple.

S.Sampath Kumar, manager temple committee, Ravindra Hebbar, Sooryanarayana Vaidya, Parpathegar Subramani, Krishna Upadya and others received Swamiji .

Talking to this correspondent, Jayendra Saraswathi disclosed that Kanchi Mutt will be opening Veda Paata Shaala’s at Kollur, Bangalore and Honnavar by June and students above age eight would be provided free education and stay facility. Apart from Veda, they will be taught computering and English, he said.

He also invited students to write and learn Bhajagovindam and Totakaashtaka of Sri Shankara. Parents who confirm that their children have learnt these great songs would be sent a silver locket of Shankara, he said. Besides, he called upon the people to celebrate Shankara Jayanthi in a grand manner all over.

Asked about his Spiritual message, Jayendra Saraswathi said that minimum two minutes sincere prayer on Ishta Deiva every morning by the people would bring peace and prosperity. Though there are many kinds of Spiritual practices, all paths lead to One Supreme Consciousness, he said. Asked whether the Spiritual feeling in the society is decreasing, he said with a smile that it is on the increase and quipped “Vyadi bandre Vaidya beku, Kashta bandre Devru beku”.{ You need a doctor when illness strikes, You need God when hurdles come}

Jayendra Saraswathi come to Talacauvery way back in 1987 by leaving the Ashram, secretly. While the nation was in shock as to where he had gone, UNI correspondent from Kodagu had let the cat out to the relief of many, including the then president R.Venkata Raman.

HIGH LEVEL MEETING TO SOLVE FOREST LAND ISSUE;

The district in charge minister Ramachandra Gowda told that a high level meeting including forest and revenue officials along with peoples representatives would be held at Bangalore to solve the confusion between forest and revenue departments in Kodagu.

The minister took part in the Karnataka development review meeting held at old assembly hall here yesterday and replied to the query raised by MLC Arun

Machaiah, MLAs K.G.Bopaiah and Basavaraju. MLA Bopaiah spat fire and said that the forest department has left no land to revenue department here to undertake any housing programmes. He accused forest officials and said that they have no concern for people and are eager to form another National park in Brahmagiri and Pushpagiri forest ranges.

ZP president Ashok H.S presided over. Vice president B.C.Neelamma, SP devjyothi Ray, CEO Sundar naik were present.

SUBBAIAH TO COACH WOMEN HOCKEY TEAM;

Indian team goal keeper A.B.Subbaiah is appointed to coach women hockey team.

Acording to sources he will train lady goal keepers for the 11th National cup to be held in December and 14th Asian game. Coaching will begin at Bhupal this week.
