SPEAKER CALLS TO FIGHT CORRUPTION;

Speaker mr.K.Krishna called upon the youth to fight corruption and build a new political order in the country.

Speaking as a chief guest in the valedictory function of the Jaycees club at Sunticoppa, yesterday evening, Mr.Krishna regretted that corruption has spread its tentacles all over the Nation and there is a need to cleanse politics and bring about new political system.

He also regretted that environment is polluted adding danger to the future. Possibility of change to improve the country is in the hands of youth, he said. He called upon the Jaycees to produce responsible youth leaders who could bring the country to order.

Another guest mr.M.C.nanaiah spoke on the occasion and said that the youth should imbibe the feeling of oneness. Stating that the politicians are known to divide and rule, only youth could bring awareness about the importance of brotherhood.

Inaugurating the function, president of the Zone mr.Sadananda Navada said that Jaycees is spread in 120 countries and India alone has 1200 clubs.

Sunticoppa Jaycee president Jahid Ahmad welcomed the gathering. Secretary mr.Suresh Kumar proposed vote of thanks.


MLC URGES FOR SPORTS ACADEMY;

COORG INSTITUTE BAGS CHAMPIONSHIP

MLC Mr.Arun Machaiah has urged the state government start a sports academy in Kodagu.

Addressing the crowd after distributing trophy to the winners of Inter engineering college hockey held at Ponnampet, he said that the government has a proposal to start a sports academy and it should be started in Kodagu. He said that sports men in Kodagu lack encouragement by the government.

Meanwhile, Coorg institute of technology team won against the NMAMIT team of Nitte by 3 – 2 and bagged the championship in the finals. Around 23 teams from 18 engineering colleges from the state took part in the two day hockey held at Ponnampet.


POST OF OFFICIALS VACANT IN KODAGU;

Post of many officials in the district is empty, hampering service, said the deputy commissioner Mr.Subodh Yadav, addressing a press conference.

He said that posts of HQA, food assistant, Mujarai officer, Wakf officer , five engineers in City Municipal Council are all vacant making it difficult to implement government schemes and projects.

Meanwhile he said that the district has incurred a total of rupees 42.65 crores loss due to heavy rainfall .
