CROCODILE IN A PADDY FIELD CAPTUREDA big crocodile entered a paddy field and created havoc in a village area. The animal had damaged the entire field affecting the farmers. The crocodile entered the paddy fields of Chattanda Cariappa and Aruna at T.Shettigeri village on 24th morning at about 9.30 A.M. The animal had arrived from its original place of Kakkatte stream three K.Ms from the spot. The 10 feet long, 150 K.G. weighed crocodile had damaged the entire paddy field. People from surrounding places gathered in large number to watch this big amphibian. The villagers tried to capture it, but they failed. They feared to go nearby. A team of forest personnel rushed to the spot from Ponnampet Range forest office. They tied up the mouth and dragged the crocodile by evening. ORDERED TO RELEASE RS. 25 CROPRESThe chief minister Dharam singh instructed the Revenue authorities to release total of Rs. 25 crores towards the rain relief in Kodagu district. Jeevijaya, the Somwarpet M.L.A and Ex. Minister had personally requested the Chief Minister to enhance the relief fund from the previous acceptance of Rs. 15 crore to Rs. 25 crores. Jeevijaya convinced the Chief minister disclosing the total loss estimate as Rs. 65 crore instead of the Rs. 42 crores estimated by the district administration .Already Rs. 12 crores is released . Further releases depends on the utilization of funds without delay-said Jeevijaya talking to The Times of India. The continued rainfall is obstructing the smooth going of road repair works. So, it is requested to release further funds as soon as the grading work is done without conditioning for tarring which may take time due to bad weather-Jeevijaya added.The relief includes rehabilitation, road repairs , compensation to farmers- he confirmed. Jeevijaya also requested the Chief Minister to fill up the major vacancies in the district administration. The Head quarters Assistant, the Madikeri Town Municipal Commissioner, the District Food and Civil supplies Assistant, the Assistant Commissioner and some other posts should be filled up immediately to carry the routine public work without delay- asked jeeviaya. The Chief Minister had directed the Chief Secretary to take immediate steps to fill up the posts. |
