SOLDIER FROM KODAGU DIES AT SECUNDERABAD;A soldier from Kodagu has died in a road accident at Secunderabad on Sunday. According to sources Mukkati Lokesh, 31, serving in MEG at Secunderabad met with an accident and died on the spot. Serving at MEG since thirteen years, Lokesh was unmarried and hails from Hudgur village near Kushalnagar. His body will be brought to Kodagu today for cremation. MLA DEMANDS ACTION AGAINST MINISTER , DC;Virajpet MLA Mr.Basavaraju has lodged a complaint against the district in charge minister Mr.Alangur Srinivas and the Deputy Commissioner Mr.Subodh Yadav. In a written complaint to the Chuef Minister Mr.Dharam Singh handed over yesterday, he has accused the Deputy Commissioner of inflicting insult to him in an open meeting at Old Assembly hall at Madikeri . He has also said that the minister who was presiding over the meeting has supported the officer who was rude with a elected representative. According to him, the DC told the MLA he can either sit in the meeting or go out and it is not mandatory that MLAs should be invited to the peoples contact programme. He questioned that how a DC was allowed to reply to him when a minister was presiding. It is an insult, he has commented. Mr.Basavaraju arrioved at the peoples contact programme late and demanded explanation as to why he was not invited to the function, earlier. Urging action against the DC, he also demanded to change the district incharge minister. KAIL POLDH KAVI GOSHTI INAUGURATED;The joint director of Kannada Samskruthi department Mr.K.T.Chikkanna yesterday inaugurated the Kail Poldh Kavigoshti at Patrika Bhavan and said that a poet is not the only one who delivers message and principles, but the one who deals with life and touches it from all angles. He said that deep study will bringout better poems from a poet. He adviced that a poet should be able to behave like a six year old boy or like a sixty year old person when he brings out poems. A poem cannot be called as a poem unless there is feeling in it, said G. Rajendra, member of the Madyama Academy. He was addressing the gathering as a chief guest. President of the Sahitya Parishdh Mr.T.P.ramesh called upon the people to produce more works to enrich literature. District journalists’ association president Mr.Shashidar released a poem book. Presiding over the meeting, chairperson of Kodava Academy Mrs.Dotty Poovaiah said that the bilingual poets meet was organized for the first time as an attempt to encourage all languages. Poets presented their works. Journalists association and Kodava academy have jointly organized the meet. |
