URGE TO REPAIR HIGH WAY;

President of the action committee and a gram panchayath member Mr.Hottengada Ramesh has urged the government to immediately take up high way work and repair the roads of South Kodagu that are in dilapidated condition.

Addressing a press conference he stated that though the Nagarhole National park is named after late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, government is not keen to provide road facility to the Park which attracts thousands of tourists from all over. He said that AICC president Mrs. Sonia Gandhi should take personal interest as the park is named after her husband.

TRAINING FOR LAMP SOCIETY MEMBERS;

State co operative federation and District co operative Union had jointly organized a training programme for the members of the LAMP society at madikeri, yesterday.

Forest officer Mr.C.A.Achaiah inaugurated the function and gave tips about the usage of minor forest produces. He also said that the activities of using the forst prouduce should not flout the forest rules.

Union president Mr.M.P.Muthappa presided over the function.

CPIM TAKES OUT PROCESSION;

Workers of the CPIM party took out a procession in the main streets of Virajpet to press their demands, yesterday.

Led by secretary mr.Peter Lobo, the protestors presented a memorandum to the Tahasildar.

The party demanded job, food and land to the common people in its appeal.

PRIORITY FOR ROAD AND DRINKING WATER;

MLA Mr.B.A.Jeevijaya yesterday stated that priority would be given for road and drinking water in his constituency.

Inaugurating couple of projects in his taluk yesterday, MLA styated that the government has released rupees 1.5 crores to Somwarpet towards rain damage relief and that amount would be spent on priority .

Mr.Jeevijaya said that rs.30 lakh would be spent to repair Madapur – Surlabbi road, rs.60 lakh on Beetikatte road, rs. 60 lakh for Aadinadur road, 40 and 45 lakh for Bairappan Gudi and Aluvara road. A 3.5 lakh drinking water project at Madapur is on he disclosed.

SCIENTISTS TO ARRIVE AT SOMWARPET;

A team of scientists will arrive at Somwarpet today to probe the cause of land tremor rocking the residents since a month.

The scientists are arriving with sophisticated instruments to test the land and would stay for fifteen days, according to the source.

Confirminig the visit, Dr.V.S.Praksh, director of SNDC, Bangalore said that experts are being sent by the government.

It can be recalled that residents of Somwarpet were undergoing trauma due to the sudden tremor at regular intervals.
