Madikeri October 25, 2005

Commissioner of National minority language cell K.K.Sethi told here that Kodava language can be brought out in text book form in Kodagu.

Addressing the gathering at Old assembly hall here yesterday, Sethi said that any language spoken by above fifteen percent of the total population could be taken into text book along with that of the state.

He assured that the matter would be taken up with the state government. He directed the Kodava organizations to bring out a text book in Kodava language and submit it to the government to pursue the matter. He opined that it is necessary that children are taught local language through schools and said that the education department should find out whether it could implement it through Sarva shikshana abhiyana.

Answering a query he replied that including a language into it does not make any big difference.
