DEVOTEES GATHER AT TALACAUVERY;

Tens and thousands of devotees have been gathering at Talacauvery since morning to take a holy dip during Teertodbhava.

People from Kerala, Tamilnadu and Karnataka are flocking the small town to witness the Teertodbhava whioch is scheduled to take place at 8.35 P.M, today.

Private organizations have organized free food to the devotees. Elaborate security arrangements are done. Traffic is being controlled as hundreds of vehicles are making their way in narrow, curvy roads.

Health minister Cheluvaraya Swamy and district in charge minister Alangur Srinivas have also arrived to witness the event.

WIFE DONE TO DEATH;

Yashoda, 47 was done to death by her husband during a drunken brawl.

The town police stated that Ramu, 55 murdered his wife by beating her with a fire wood piece as she raised a quarrel with him on the night of 13th. Ramu went out to watch Dasera after the incident. He found her dead on his return the next morning. Hecoloured the death as natural and told that she died after consuming liquor with him at night.

While police believed his story, brother of the deceased lodged a complaint of unnatural death.

It was revealed after inquiry that Ramu murdered his wife. He was arrested and sent to custody, yesterday night.

FRIEND DONE TO DEATH;

A fight breaking between friends ended in a murder at Surlabbi village at Somwarpet taluk yesterday.

According to police, the band of friends were involved in illicit liquor trade and their difference caused the fight.

Thimmaiah was brutally killed attacked with an axe and clubs by Kuttappa, Eshwar and Uthaiah. Eshwar who was injured in the fight surrendered to police and police arrested the other two.

POLICE BUST COFFEE RACKET;

Kushalnagar police busted a coffee racket and arrested six persons in this connection.

According to them the culprits hailed from Kushalnagar and Ramnathpur. They broke into a coffee curing works godown in Kushalnagar Industrial estate area recently and sold it at Mandya. Their investigation revealed that the coffee was sold to a curing works at Mandya.

Arresting Lokesh, Harsha, Ravi, raju, Manjunath and Kumar, police also seized a mini lorry used for illegal transport and theft. A stolen bike was also seized from them.

16 bags of coffee was also seized from the coffee curing works.
