TRAFFIC UMBRELLA INAUGURATED;Madikeri October 6, 2005 Superintendent of police Devajyothi ray and Deputy Commissioner Subodh yadav today inaugurated two traffic umbrellas in the town. The umbrellas were erected at a cost of rupees thirty five thousand drawn from Road Transport Authority fund. One more Umbrella will also be erected with the same fund. While the DC inaugurated it at General Thimmaiah circle, the SP inaugurated it at Indira Gandhi circle. One more will come up at private bustand. ( Picture of SP and DC after inaugurating a traffic Umbrella) WOMEN GRIEVANCE CELL;A women’s grievance cell was opened at Town police station. According to a police officer, the cell will deal with the law and order problems being faced by women. A lady police officer will be available in the cell, round the clock. HARANGI TO GET FACE LIFT;Tourism would be developed in Harangi reservoir, according to Managing Director of Cauvery water Board, K.R.Srinivas. Srinivas during his visit to the reservoir yesterday told scribes that the garden would be developed in the reservoir with the private partnership. The then chief minister, late R.Gundu rao had a dream to convert the reservoir parallel to KRS in Mysore. Meanwhile, Srinivas assured that the reservoir offices will not be shifted from Harangi as was proposed earlier. He said that he is aware of the protests observed by public to retain the offices there. Besides, a protest was launched by the local residents residing in the front portion of the Reservoir. They urged that they should not be shifted from the area and alleged that the officials are planning to vacate them. TALACAUVERY DEVELOPMENT;Speaking at Madikeri, Srinivas said that the officials are urged to speed up the rejuvenation of Bhagamandala and Talacauvery temples. He disclosed that rupees one crore is already spent in the total sanction of rupees 10.5 crore. |
