SILVER COINS UNCOVERED;

Kodlipet police today uncovered silver coins worth thousands of ripees recovered from the ground.

According to report, workers at the coffee estate of Patel Kalappa at Keligoli near Kodlipet found a copper vessel buried under ground. They were making pit and the vessel was found with coins on 30th Friday. Immediately six of them grabbed as many coins as possible and kept the matter a secret. The owner was also kept in dark.

However, an anonymous coller today called the police and informed them that gold coins were recovered underground. Police sub inspector Nagaraj and staff raided the house of the labourers this evening and recovered 190 valuable coins.

Some of the coins bear the name of Azeez Uddin and few others Mohammed Adam. Two dates 1172 and 1218 are encrypted on set of coins. Police said that they weigh 1.7 K.G.

Investigation is on.

TWO YOUTHS DIED ON THE SPOT

Two youths riding on a bike died on the spot when the KSRTC bus hit badly. The youths are identified as Moidu (22) and Abdul Nasir (20) of Hakathur village near here where the incident occurred.. The Bus No.KA-19 1952 was driven towards Balele from Mangalore. When the bus was moving on the main road, the bike suddenly turned from a village road and was hit. Both deceased were unmarried. Moidu was working at Bangalore. Nasir was studying in Koikod, kerala.The driver of the bus has been arrested.

THE CITIZEN FORUM WARNS

The Virajpet Citizen Forum warned the Virajpet Town Panchayath and the State Water and urban development Board to set right the problems in the town water supply scheme. The crores of Rupees Bethri project to bring Cauvery water from Bethri to Virajpet for the drinking purpose is unsuccessful. The Virajpet town people are still suffering. Where the money gone? Why the project has failed? Questions the citizen forum However, 15 days time limit is provided to correct the system. Otherwise the forum will launch agitation. This was announced by the forum’s office bearers Vasu Nanjappa,I.R.Durga Prasad, B.B.Nanaiah, K.T.Cariappa, Devaki Bheemaiah and others.

NATIONAL HORTICULTURAL MISSION TO BE ESTABLISHED

Shortly, the National Horticultural Mission will be established in Kodagu District. This was announced by the District Incharge Minister and the State Horticultural Minister Alangur Shrinivas. He was speaking casually with the scribes here. The centre has sanctioned Rs. 85 crores to establish the Horticultural Mission in 13 districts in karnataka and Kodagu is one of among them-he confirmed./ The project will be implemented by the Kodagu Zilla Panchayath Executive officer who has been nominated as the chairman of the implementation committee- Minister explained.

The implementation of the project promotes the pineapple cultivation, subsidy for the farmers who may start the manufacturing the organic manures in future and also development of orange cultivation in kodagu. The Kodagu orange has come down due to citric disease. The Govt. will distribute each one lakh deseaseless orange seedlings on thalukwise basis to the farmers in three thaluks.TheHorticultural cultivation maintained by the horticultural department is deteriorating and to rejenuvate the conditions, the responsibility will be handed over to the various women orgonisations- Alangur Shrinivas described.
