‘TANDI TANDI HAWA’ THROWS HAVOC IN KODAGU;Mercury dips down to 7 degree Celsius in a town like Madikeri. It will be colder than this in Pushpagiri and Brahmagiri ranges. Added to the crispy, biting cold weather, scattered rain and fierce wind are contributing to the mystery of people whop have leaned to just manage life. The mercury dipped down to 7.2 Celsius at Madikeri on this 19th. Maximum temperature on that day during daytime was 26.6. Degree Celsius. It varies each day from place to place. While the weather pushes the older generation to the corner of their bedrooms, activities during mornings and evenings slow down. This apart, paddy crops readying for harvesting is kissing the ground in hundreds of hectares due to the speed and pressure of fierce winds. Frmers are worried that the harvesting is usually done only after the Huthri festival. Local festival Huthri falls on December 15th. Will the crop survive for another 20 days? They are anxious. The coffee growers who have started picking arabica coffee have reason to worry too. They are unable to dry coffee. Drizzling, mist and wet weather are making their task difficult. People hope that atleast the drizzling ends early and they can start their agriculture activities in a normal speed. Cold? They are used to challenging it.
