GIRL DIES IN FATAL FALL;A picnic to a waterfall ended in a disaster to three friends at Mallalli near Somwarpet with one girls falling to death. According to police, three girls, all friends went to the waterfalls situated in a remote place in jungles yesterday. One Ragini, 24, a native of Somwarpet town had a fall from above and died on the spot. Police rushed to the spot after receiving complaint from the deceased girls friends, both named Ambica. However, the body is not traced until morning. Waterfall continues with a river and the search is on. The girl’s parents are not in town and they have gone in search of a bridegroom for her sister. 3.5 LAKH FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE;Member of the Parliament, Sadananda Gowda told yesterday that rupees 3.5 lakh would be spent on road and bridge repair from the border development fund and rain damage fund.. Addressing the BJP workers at Karike, the border town connecting Kasargod Sadananda Gowda assured to repair the roads and bridges linking Gaalibeedu – Kadamakal, Todikana _ Bhagamandala MLA K.G.Bopaiah alleged that the forest department, hand in glove with the fake environmentalists is posing problem to build roads in villages. He accused the department of destroying Areca plantation belonging to agriculturists at Chembu and Dabbadka. He cautioned them not to give any room for conflicts through such actions. He also said that the temples situated inside the sacred grooves in the districts are not developed as the forest department considers such forests as reserved. People should protest against this, he said. MP and MLA were addressing a Brahmakalashotsava of Aiyappa temple at Karike. Temple committee chairman Kodi Ponnappa, Mandal president Jayanthi and others were present. |
