VILLAGERS STAGE PROTEST;

Residents of villages surrounding Kalur staged a protest before the deputy Commissioners office and demanded action against fake environmentalists and Kaveri sene.

Led by BJP MLA K.G.Bopaiah, the villagers submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Subodh yadav. They stated in the memorandum that though the villages around Kalur are situated only fifteen kilometers away from Madikeri, they lack basic facilities. The MLA mentioned that they had applied to remove trees to form a road and the forest department ignored their request. Hence the trees obstructing the road were removed and fake environmentalists and members of Kaveri sene obstructed the development. The villagers alleged that Kaveri Sene is blackmailing officials to get the works done.

Bopaiah has urged to protect forest belts where smuggling is going on and quipped that the self declared environmentalists are not raising any objection to it.
