RAMAMURTHY TO HEAD COMARK;

An active head of the Coffee Action committee who had fought for FSQ, H.C.Ramamurthy has been named the chief of COMARK.

Ramamurthy has been elected unopposed.

Meanwhile, a meeting headed by the secretary of co operative ministry, C.S.Kedar yesterday decided to seek ten crore from the government to rejuvenate COMARK. Though the government had sanctioned rupees fifteen crore to COMARK earlier, it was with held on the basis of Supreme Courts order that the co operative sectors can only avail loan from the government.

However, the high-level meeting yesterday has submitted a project to the government with the appeal that it wishes to start coffee export, warehouse facility for planters, coffee buying and selling.

Meeting was attended by K.C.Ramamurthy, Chairman of Apex Bank, Harish Gowda, commissioner of commercial tax Ravikumar and others.

Talking to this correspondent over telephone, Mr.Ramamurthy said that he wishes to take Comark from loss to profit.

MURDER OVER PROPERTY;

A younger brother done to death his elder brother over a property dispute yesterday, at Kadlemakki village near Alur Siddapur.

According to police, Jenukurubara Mani attacked his brother Ballava with a club and killed him at their house. Fighting erupted as differences brew over a small property and a house they owned. Ballava died on the way to hospital.

Shanivarsanthe police have registered a case.

BJP TO STAGE PROTEST;

The villagers of kalur village will stage a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioners office on this Friday demanding basic facilities.

The villagers today waylaid a retired DySP, Keshavananda in Kalur junction and alleged that Keshavananda and Kaveri Sena members are blocking the little facility like road that could be provided to the village. Their wrath came as Keshavananda , Air Marshal Cariappa and Thammu Poovaiah protested against formation of road by cutting trees, last week. Their protest resulted in booking case against twenty villagers.

Villagers said that Kalur is a remotest village with no basic facilities like road, drainage, waterand electricity. They demanded to reverse the cases booked against them.
