GOVERNMENT SANCTIONS 6 CRORES TO CAUVERY IRRIGATION AUTHORITY;The government has reserved rupees six crores for the activities of the Cauvery Irrigation Authority, said mr.Thimmegowda. Managing director of the Authority, Mr.Thimmegowda yesterday paid a visit to Talacauvery and Bhagamandala and spoke to scribes. He visited talacauvery as he is retiring from service today. Stating that the Authority has submitted a plan of rupees 10.7 crores to government for the development of twin towns, Mr.Thimmegowda said that government has accepted the project and earmarked the above funds. Funds could be provided according to the needs, he said. He disclosed that a project of 1500 crores was submitted to government for the development of Cauvery river basin in the state, he said that so far rupees 500 crores was released. Bhagamandala – Talacauvery development would be completed in another two years time, he confirmed. Mr.Thimmegowda performed pooja at temples along with his family. EMPLOYEE DIES OF GUN SHOT;A resident of Kodagu, Mr.Dinesh, 35 serving in Mumbai as an employee of Central Industrial security Force died of accidental gunshot, according reports. The family members of Ganesh at Nanjarayapatna stated that the department has sent a message stating that he died of gun shot. But the reports are not specific. The family members have gone to Mumbai and are expected to return with the body, tomorrow. SHOOTS SELF TO DEATH;A person suffering from stomach ache reportedly shot himself to death yesterday. According to police Machhetira pemmaiah, 55, of Hachinad near Sidapur shot himself to death with a gun at his residence. Family sources said that the deceased took the extreme step as he was suffering from stomach pain. |
