FATAL FALL;

A man clearing the branches of a tree fell to death at Cherangala.

Vasu, 35 was clearing the branches for shading inside an estate yesterday and accidentally fell down. He died on the spot.

APMC ELECTION DRAWS POOR RESPONSE;

The APMC election held here drew less response with only 51% votes being casted. Madikeri APMC registered 46%, Somwarpet 55% and Virajpet 53%.

Though the number of votes are very less in all the constituencies’ turnout of members was considerably less. People were seen bringing the voters from their houses with much persuasion.

The counting of votes will take place on 31st. More than 400 police with 40 inspectors were deputed to maintain security.

Manavattira family team won the prestigious Kundranda family cricket cup by humbling Kalakanda team.

The exciting finals played at Virajpet witnessed Manavattira surging to win with a difference of 20 runs.

The district journalists association distributed district awards for the best humanitarian report and best investigative reports, yesterday.

Mr>B.G.Anantha Shayan received the award for humanitarian report he had made on an orphaned woman belonging to a rich family. She was immediately settled after the report appeared.

Investigative report award went ot Mr.Balakrishna, who made a report on Bank dacoity and murder.

The association also felicitated Mrs.Datty poovaiah, Mr.G.Rajendra, Mr.Anil H.T., Mr.Bharadvaj and other members who have excelled in the field and recognized by other organizations, academy and Panchayaths.
