WATER SHORTAGE CREATS HAVOC;

Drinking water shortage at Madikeri turns district administration and CMC hot. The elected representatives and the Deputy Commissioner who is in charge of the CMC are digging ground to find permanent solution.

A team consisting of DC Mr.Subramanyam,chairperson of Drinking water and drainage board Mrs.K.P.Chandrakala, CMC members and CoC president yesterday visited the main water source of Madikeri, Kutuhole and inspected the grave situation.

The team later went to Vanachalu, few kilometers from this place and observed a perennial water source, which could be diverted to Kutuhole.

It was decided to initiate action to divert water from here, which could be done by spending 50 to 60 lakhs.

Some of the members in the team suggested that this scheme should be implemented immediately and take up another project of lifting water from Bethri river costing few crores. Bethri river is atleast 25 kilometers away from madikeri which is already supplying water to virajpet town.

WOMEN STONE HOUSE OF THE ACCUSED;

A strong band of women led by Stree Shakthi and other ladies organizations yesterday stoned the house of a murder accused at T.Shettigeri who shot dead his own daughter in law.

They were protesting the killing of Shobha, 25 on this 4th by Mayanamada Cariappa with the support of his wife and son.

The ladies went in a procession at T.shettigeri and demanded a CoD enquiry and suspension of the police sub inspector who had refused to register complaint against the accused lodged by Shobha, six months ago. They alleged that police could have averted the murder if they had taken action, earlier.

ACTION SOUGHT;

The DCC president and member of the ZP, Mrs.Veena Achaih has urged action against a Zilla Panchayath officer for misbehavior.

In a complaint lodged to Panchayath Raj minister, she accused secretary Laalappa of misbehaving with her in the presidents chamber and urged the minister to transfer him from this place.

She said in a press statement that Laalappa poked his nose unnecessarily in the chamber while she was discussing with the president Mrs.Chitra Ramesh.

Giving an ultimatum of 19th May to initiate action, she has cautioned that a protest would be organized if the government fails to listen to her plea.
