MINISTER SUSPENDS OFFICER ON THE SPOT;

The district in charge minister yesterday suspended an officer on the spot in the public grievance meeting held at virajpet.

The public coming in large number from villages complained that the assistant officer at the Land Survey department, Mr.Nagarajachar is swindling them by demanding bribe for every record and also forcing his staff to collect graft. An enraged district incharge minister Mr.Srinivas ordered suspension on the spot and adviced the deputy commissioner to initiate immediate action against the officer.

MLA Mr.Basavaraju urged the minister to release more funds for drinking water projects, as the present funds will not meet the ends. Minister agreed to consider his demand. A section of the public also complained that MLA Mr.Basavaraju is urging the transfer of officials due to political reasons. Verbal clash ensued between one Krishna Kumar and the MLA as he alleged against him.

STATE LEVEL KABADDI KICKSTARTS;

A state level kabaddi tournament organised by New Hajayath youth club here was inaugurated by Mr.G.Rajendra yesterday.

MLC Mr.B.A.Hasanabba inaugurated the ground and said that women also should take part in the tournament and it should receive encouragement. He wished that Kodagu made a mark in state level in Kabaddi. CMC member Mr.K.M.B.Ganesh, Mr.Thimma Shetty from Mysore soaps and detergents, Mr.Nasir Ahmad from KSRTC were also present. Mr.G.Chidvilas compered the programme.

KURUNJI CUP CRICKET FROM TODAY;

The Gowda community is holding Kurunji Cup cricket at Madikeri from today.

About 160 gowda families from Kodagu and Sullya will take part in the tournment. The tournment will be held for ten days at Madikeri. Semi finals and finals would be held at Sullyas as Kurunji family is hosting the tournment.
