MINISTERS’ FACE WRATH OF REPRESENTATIVES;The elected members of Grampanchayaths including presidents and secretaries gheraoed the ministers who arrived at the meeting venue 90 minutes late. Panchayath Raj minister Mr.H.C.Mahadevappa and district in charge minister Mr.Alangur srinivas were scheduled to attend the meeting of all representatives from gram Panchayaths, yesterday at 10.30 A.M. Pandemonium broke as officials started giving excuses as the ministers did not turn up even after one hour. The members who shouted that the elected representatives are treated as sheep took officials to task. MLA Mr.Basavaraju was also stopped from entering the Crystal Hall where the meeting was held. The two ministers arriving at the spot were also gheraoed. The protest took a new turn as MLA Mr.K.G.Bopaiah's name did not figure in the invitation. The BJP members refused to attend the meeting in his absence. Minister Mr.Srinivas immediately left the premises in his car and brought Mr.K.G.Bopaiah to the meeting. The situation was cleared after much heated debates and accusations. Inaugurating the meet by lighting the lamp, Minister mr.Mahadevappa called upon the members to deliver sincere service and promote Karnataka as a model state in the country. He advised the members to see that the funds meant for development are not misused. Minister announced that the government will release rupees thirty lakh each to all the Panchayaths for development. District in charge minister Mr.Srinivas presided over the meeting. He urged Mr.Mahadevappa to release ten lakhs more to each panchayths along with the thirty lakh for developments. MLC mr.Arun Machaiah, MLAs Mr.H.D.Basavara, Mr.K.G.Bopaiah, ZP chairperson Mrs.Chitra Ramesh, Vice president Mr.Papu Sannaiah, Chairperson of State under drainage and water supply board, Mrs.K.P.Chandrakala, CEO mr.Sundar naik and others were present. Mr.G.Chidvilas invoked. PROTEST AGAINST POLICE INEFFFICIENCY;MLA Mr.Basavaraju has cautioned that the BJP will hold protest against inefficiency of police. Addressing a press conference, Mr.Basavaraju alleged that rampant criminal activities are taking place in South Kodagu, unchecked and unperturbed due to their inefficiency. Collection of hafta, smuggling and other activities are taking place directly under the nose of police. |
