THREE ARRESTED IN MURDER CASE;

Police have arrested the murder accused Mayanamada Kushalappa, his wife Parvathy and son Binnu in connection with the murder of Shobha, 25, on fourth evening at T.Shettigeri.

Shobha’s sister has lodged a complaint stating that her in-laws and husband for dowry were torturing her sister since five years, after the marriage. They were beating her with firewood and threatening to kill her with gunshot.

Accordingly, accused Cariappa shot her on the face while Shobha was lighting the lamp at their house. He called her name at the time of lighting the lamp and opened fire as she turned her face to look at him.

Residents of T.Shettigeri complain that the police negligence also counts in the murder. Shobha had gone to the Srimangala police to complain against harassment six months ago. Instead of providing justice, the sub inspector had threatened to arrest her and called her in-laws to state that she is complaining against her. She was meted more torture on the said day on her return from the police station and she was even made to stay out the whole night. Torture became a routine, pressing her to bring more money from her parents.

Shobha, who has a four-year-old son, was a three-month pregnant. Her husband Binnu was watching the TV at the time of the murder. Public stopped him as he tried to escape from the scene after the incident, along with his father.

KEDAMBADI CUP GOES TO KATTEMANE;

The Kattemane team lifted the Kedambadi cup cricket trophy by defeating the runners up Kedambadi team in the sports events organized by Gowda community at Sannapulikot till yesterday.

In an exciting throw ball event meant for the ladies, Peratha Mahila sanga has won against Bhagavathi team of Chettimani.

About sixty families took part in the nine day sports events which concluded yesterday.
