LAKHS OF RUPEES WENT INTO DRAINS?The Nalaknad palace rejuvenated by spending lakhs of rupees has gone into drains, complain the residents of Kakkabbe. The palace in deterioration, built by the then kings who were ruling Kodagu was rejuvenated by Intech organization at a cost of rupees fifty lakhs. However the residents living around the palace complain that the work was of inferior quality and plastering on steps and other places are coming off even in few months time after the repair. Even the original paintings found under the plaster are being repainted in a haphazard manner, they complain. However works like flooring etc are still underway. INVESTIGATION ORDERED;The Town Panchayath at Virajpet passed a resolution to investigate the allegation of misuse of funds in Bethri water supply scheme. Pandemonium broke in the panchayath meet yesterday as a member produced a local newspaper carrying the report of misuse in the crore and odd water scheme. It was alleged that thogh the panchayath has spent huge amount to bring drinking water from Bethri, flowing 14 kilometers away, parts of the town still lakh drinking water. Resolution to conduct investigation was passed after much heated debate. President mr.Farook Rahim chaired the meeting. TEMPLES BROKEN;Culprits broke into two temples and a shop at Ponnampet and made away with cash. According to police miscreants broke into Basaveshwara temple and removed the cash from Hundi and broke into a shop later. Stealing cash from the shop, they later stole a hundi, installed in front of Ganapathy temple. The residents have expressed fear stating that this is the second time the thieves are breaking into the small town. They have urged the police department to tighten security. |
