MURDERER TRAPPEDA person involved in a series of thefts and a murder got trapped himself and is now sent to jail. Somappa, 35 was wanted in a murder case and town police arrested dozens of theft and chain-snatching cases yesterday, trapped inside a shop in the town. Somappa broke into a shop by breaking the lock and closed the shutters from inside. As the shop assistant sleeping inside the godown, below the shop heard the sound of a shelf lock being opened by force. He came and locked the shutters from outside. Beat police and public gathered before the shop and captured the thief. On interrogation it is revealed that the culprit had also committed a murder reported in the town a year back. Superintendent of police Mr.Devjyothi ray told that the accused was involved in seventeen theft cases, one murder and another, attempt to murder cases. He had killed a stranger behind Basappa theatre here during last November over a trivial matter. However the identity of the person is unknown till today. SP presented a cash prize of rupees one thousand to the shop assistant Mr.Anand Naik who trapped the thief inside. FIFTY INCH RAINFALL AT TALACAUVERY;Talacauvery has registered 50.60 inches of rainfall till yesterday. It had rained 76 inches in the region during last year. A resident of Talakaveri, Ananda Teertha has said that the temple town is delinked with telephone and electricity services completely hampered. He has requested the district administration to look into their plight. |
