LIFER FOR MURDERER;

The session’s court here has pronounced life imprisonment to a person who murdered a housewife three years ago.

Vishwanath, a native of Abburu katte stabbed to death a housewife at Madikeri in day light at her house on 23.11.2001. Arriving at the house to burgle, Vishwanath stabbed the housewife Prema in confusion as she screamed.

People working in the adjacent office rushed to the spot and captured the accused and handed him over to police.

MADHUKERI BECOMES MADIKERI;

Madhukeri is a name we come across Ramayan where the monkies make merry as they found ‘Madhu’ aplenty.

A vedic expert Mr.Chandra Shekar Sharma stated in a meeting here that Madhukeri mentioned in Ramayan is none other than Madikeri. He said that the name was gradually changed to Madikeri.

Mr.Sharma came to Madikeri from Sringeri Sharada Peeta and announced that the Sringeri pontiff wishes to build a branch Mutt here. He said that the Mutt wants to preserve the rich cultural and Spiritual background by opening a branch here.

He sought the cooperation of people. Meanwhile he recalled how the sage Agastya was born inside a vessel called as “Kodapana” and opined that the Kodava was derived due to that.

A committee was formed to build Mutt here with Mr.K.Vishwanath as its convenor, Ganesh Shenoy and Narayan as its members.

Siddapur police in a joint operation with Mandya police arrested an inter district chain snatcher and recovered gold worth three lakh.

According to police, Kodagu, Mysore and Mandya police in chain snatching cases wanted Lingaraju, a native of Mandya. He had committed crime in few districts and joined a firm at Bangalore as a security guard.
