MADIKERI GETS ANOTHER ROTARY;

The fifty-year-old Ratary Madikeri has sponsored another club in the town with a charter membership of 50, largest ever in district 3180.

Rotary president Mr.Sharavanan announced this in the press conference and disclosed that journalist B.G.Anantha Shayana will lead the club as its charter president.

The club has members hailing from different walks of life.

President elect Mr.B.G.Anantha Shayana told that the club has a project in mind to erect a aqua drinking water unit at Talacauvery. He also said that it will organize programmes to boost the morale of orphan children and organize talks on the values of life and repercussions of crime in the prison on regular basis.

Rotary governor Mr.A.S.N.Hebbar will inaugurate the provisional club on 14th June.

ILLEGAL DWELLINGS BE REMOVED;

The social forestry DFO Mr.K.K.Lakshman said here that the illegal dwellings in Nishane hill range at Madikeri would be removed.

Reacting to a query that line of huts is popping up in the hill, overnight; the officer said that the encroachment will not be allowed.

Speaking to this correspondent today, former minister Mr.M.C.Nanaiah told that the illegal dwellings should be removed in the interest of protecting greenery and ecological imbalance. He urged that the political parties should not poke their nose in this regard as everybody should respect the sanctity of the nature.

WIDOW STRANGLED TO DEATH;

Her lover strangled a fifty eight year old widow, living at Kottur near here was strangled to death, reportedly by her lover.

According to police, one Chandru was living in her house since three months.

Neighbours today found the body inside the house with a cloth around her neck. The lady had biting wounds on parts of the body indicating torture before killing.

Son of the deceased complained to police that ornaments are also missing from the house. The accused is also absconding.
