RAGGING ROCKS GONICOPPAL;

Ragging of a hostel inmate at Gonicoppal created hartal yesterday and three students were booked after protest and demand.

According to police M.P.Dannie, P.S.Pankaj and H.R.Anil of Cauvery Polytecnic trespassed into the hostel of CIT college hostel at night and tortured one Imran. Bashing Imran black and blue the trio smeared the blood oozing from the wounds of Imran on to the wall and threatened the inmates stating that they will all be murdered if any one question them.

Imran was attacked as he opposed the trio troubling other students regularly.

He was shifted to hospital. A band of fifty students yesterday went in a procession and protested before police station. They demanded the arrest of the trio. They alleged with press that the Circle inspector did not show any courtesy to talk to them and drove away without attending.

BJP BAGS APMC IN TWO TALUKS;

Madikeri and Virajpet went in BJP way in the elections held for APMC while congress has an edge at Somwarpet.

BJP won 8 seats at Madikeri while 4 seats went to janatha Dal. Bjp won 9 seats at Gonicoppal, congress 2 and JDs 1. Congress won 6 seats at Somwarpet, BJP 5 and JDs 1.

POLICE DELAY INVITES PROTEST;

A strong band of women organizations staged a protest to change the investigating officer of a murder case.

Members of different organizations took out a procession in the main streets of Madikeri and protested before the DCs office.

They suspected delay the investigation of murder of a housewife Shobha. she was murdered on May 4th by her father in-law at T.Shettigeri.

The protestors in an appeal submitted to the Deputy Commissioner said that the CoD, which has taken up the investigation, is biased and the team is lead by a local person. They urged to change the local officer from investigation as it may support the accused.
