KODAVA THAKK JANANGA KOOTA FORMED;

Noted drama artist Addanda C.Kariappa has formed a NEW ORGANISATION BY ABOVE NAME CONSISTING OF KODAVA SPEAKING COMMUNITIES OF KODAGU. He stated that the organization has given prominenese to all the communities linked to kodava language, unlike the Codavu national Conference. He said that the Koota will oppose the demand for separate Kodava Kundh and Kodava land by Codava national Council, led by its secretary general Mr.N.U.Nachappa.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr.Kariappa alleged that the demand for a Kodava Kundh with an extent of 200 acres by CNC is a plot to grab land. He accused that CNC is falsely posing as a representative of Kodava culture and tradition.

The members of the Koota submitted memorandum to the Deputy commissioner urging reservation facility to backward classes in the community, gun licence exemption and other government benefits.

Vice president Mr.H.P.Appachu, convener Mr.Sara Chengappa and others were present.

RESEARCH STUDENT MISSING;

Parents of a research student from Bangalore have lodged a complaint stating that their son is missing in Kodagu.

According to the complaint lodged with Somwarpet police, their son, V.Seetharam, 27 , a student of Tata Institute, Bangalore had come to Kodagu to write a PHd paper and entered Pushpagiri hills for research a week ago. They are concerned that he never returned from Kodagu or even contacted them.

The local people on the foothills told the parents that they had advised their son not to venture into the hill at this season, as giant size leeches and wild animals will attack anyone venturing into the jungle during monsoon. But he dared into forest.

Police have started to comb the hill. Pushpagiri is the second highest mountain in the district with Tadiandamol being the first.

HUSBAND CONFESSES MURDER;

A police communiqué stated that it has solved the murder mystery in which a house wife was killed at madikeri, three days ago.

They stated that the housewife Prema, 29 was killed by her own husband with a iron rod. Accoeding to them,her husband Suryakumar killed her during day time as she did not co ooperate in bed. He complained with police that she was never co operative and it enraged him. I killed her in the fit of rage, he has said.

Suryakumar is sent to judicial custody.
