POLICE BLOCK COW TRANSPORTATION;Madikeri taluk police led by inspector Mr.Sundar raj yesterday blocked illegal transportation of cows to Kerala and arrested four persons. According to police four persons hailing from Manandavadi in Kerala were transporting about 20 cows including calves from Kondangeri area. Acting on a tip of, the police blocked a canter lorry and arrested Rafiq, Akbar, jaleel and Shamir. They seized the lorry along with 20 cows. According to police, the miscreants have stolen the livestock to be sold to slaughterhouse. Police also recovered rupees 25 thousand in cash from the accused who are sent to judicial custody. RASTAROHO AGAINST BAD ROADS;Residents of south Kodagu have called for a rastaroko on this 18th to protest against the bad condition of roads. Alleging that the roads in south Kodagu are non motorable, the organizers stated that the PWD is sitting on files ignoring their pleas to rectify the condition. While number of accidents is on the increase due to bad condition, some of the pot holes are as deep that you cant see a cock cross, one of them commented. Meanwhile, the contractors association has issued a statement urging the organizers to with hold protest. Association president Mr.Vasu uthappa has admitted that they have committed blunder by repairing the roads during monsoon and assured to repair the road soon after the monsoon. ACCIDENTAL DEATH;An estate labourer Ashraf of Napoklu died of burn injuries in a hospital yesterday. According to police Ashraf received burn injuries due to an accidental spray of petrol on his chest. They stated that his friend Sreejith had come to see him on this 8th at his estate line house. While Sreejith was cooking, Ashraf was cleaning vessels outside. Sreejith tried to pour petrol to prepare fire and the can caught fire. He immediately threw the can outside. But the burning can hit Ashraf cleaning vessels. An injured Ashraf was shifted to Mangalore for treatment. He however died yesterday. Police registered a case against Sreejith. HOUSE WIFE MURDERED;A house wife Prema, 29 was murdered at madikeri yesterday. According to police Prema was done to death with a rod or a bill hook in her house in the heart of the town. They suspect the hand of her barber husband , Suryakumar who was found with blood stained cloths. No arrests are made. |
