GIRL DIES IN A TRAGIC INCIDENT;

A six year old, first standard student died in a school under a tragic incident.

The stone plaque of a school at Shanivarsanthe suddenly collapsed and fell on Cinchana, 6. Receiving deep injuries on her head, she died on the spot yesterday.

Parents rushing to the spot after the incident demanded compensation. They alleged that even some other parts of the building are also in a dilapidated condition, posing threat. The education officers also came to the spot and inspected the building. The school paid an immediate compensation of rupees three thousand to the parents.

The stone plaque was erected during 1957 during the school inauguration.

ZP CHIEF CLAIMS 95% PROGRESS;

The chairperson of the Zilla panchayath, mrs.Chitra ramesh told in a press conference that the ZP has seen 95% progress during her tenure.

Addressing scribes on the last day of her tenure yesterday, she said that the ZP has spent rupees 18.76 crore on developmental works in one year.

MRS.Chitra ramesh listed out the achievements of ZP like improving a stadium at Ponnampet, building bridges, repairing roads and schools etc.

Meanwhile she ignored a query being raised by mrs.K.P.Chandrakala who alleged that the members did not approve the action plan. She said “ yes, it is not approved, I will take it later”. But the works are all in progress before the approval of the plan!

AWARENESS ABOUT CONSERVING WATER;

Kodagu Seema Parishath had organized a programme to bring awareness about the canservation of rainwater, yesterday.

Addressing the gathering, the commissioner of scouts and guides, Mr. Baby Mathew told that we have to repay the dues to mother earth by harvesting rainwater.

He gave tips to preserve the water and gave examples and said that the same water could be used for drinking through proper process.

CoC president Mr.G.rajendra spoke on the occasion and insisted on nthe necessity of preserving trees and greenery.

M.N.harish welcomed the gathering. Secretary Dr.Vishwanath proposedvote of thanks.
