YOUTH ELECTROCUTED;

Venktesh, an 18-year-old mason died of electrocution at Somwarpet. Venktesh was working on the roof of a house in Hangal near somwarpet.

Eyewitnesses said that he came in contact with a live 11 K.V. wire hanging low over his head. He was thrown down from the impact of the shock and died on the ground.

The villagers gathered before police station and demanded compensation from the contractor. The contractor Raju and the house owner agreed to pay rupees 75 thousand to the family of the deceased.

Meanwhile the Mandal Panchayath has said that several requisitions were made to the MESCOM to rectify the hanging wires. The protestors stated that they would hold protest in case the department fails to rectify the fault at the earliest.

192 HIV PATIENTS IN KODAGU;

The District health officer Dr.Devdas informed that the district has about 192 HIV positive cases and about 800 suspects.

Addressing an AIDs awareness programme organised by “Hopes” organization at Hakathur village , dr.Devdas stated that HIV virus enters only human body. He gave details about how the decease spreads and said that about 42,600 people in Karnataka have tested HIV positive. He also informed that VCDC centers are opened in all the three taluks of the district and people can voluntarily go there and get the blood tested free of cost.

KPCC SELECTION BRINGS REVOLT;

Senior congress leaders of Somwarpet taluk yesterday met in a meeting and protested against the nomination of T.P.Ramesh as KPCC member from Somwarpet taluk.

They stated that while Ramesh jumped floor from janata Dal, the local MLA Mr.B.A.Jeevijaya has ignored the senior party members and used his influence to get Ramesh appointed. They said that the KPCC has ignored the official names being recommended from Somwarpet taluk for the membership and appointed a person whose name never figured in the meetings.

They have warned to boycott all the meetings being attended by MLA mr.B.A.Jeevijaya and alsomr.T.P.ramesh if the KPCC does not change nomination of T.P.Ramesh.
