GIRL COMMITTS SUICIDE;Two girls locked in a room-attempted suicide and one girl succumbed at the hospital. Two students of Cauvery Womens College, Nalini alias Soumya, 20 and Rama, 20 stayed together at the house of Ramaa at Ambatti village in South Kodagu on the night of 6th. Ramaa’s mother heard strange noise from the girls” room at midnight and rushed inside. She found both the girls writhing in pain. Both of them had swallowed some poison. The girls were shifted to Virajpet hospital. While Nalini died at the hospital, Ramaa was shifted to Madikeri hospital. The parents told police that they are not aware of any reasons for the girls to take to such an extreme step. JDS DEMANDS TO FILL VACANT POST;The state general secretary of JDs Mr.K.B.Shanthappa demanded to fill the vacant post of Conservator of forests in the district. Addressing scribes he said that the forest officials are being transferred from Kodagu for no reason. He said that the departmental works and grievances of people are suffering due to this. Referring to the difference between mr.Devegowda and Mr.Siddaramaih, he told that it will be solved soon. STEPS TO TACKLE DOWRY MENACE;The deputy Commissioner mr.Subodh yadav yesterday called a special meeting to discuss steps to tackle dowry menace in the district. The special committee to tackle the issue was present and suggested many moves. The DC suggested that intensive awareness programmes should be conducted to curb the dowry harassments being reported in large number in Kodagu. |
