BRIDE GROOM HARASSED !

When the world cries hoarse about the dowry demand from bride and her family, here is a case where the bridegroom had to cancel his wedding due to dowry demand from his mother in-law!

Mr.Maramada Sunanda of Hudikeri has lodged a complaint with the police alleging that his would – be- mother in-law is demanding money from him.

According to the complaint his marriage was fixed with one Sujatha and the engagement was done. The date was fixed for June 26th. Though it was agreed that both the parties would share the wedding expenditure, no money was spent from his girls side for wedding hall advance and engagement expenditures. He had spent around twenty five thousand.

Ten days before the wedding, the girls mother Kamala demanded rupees two lakh from the boy. When he refused to pay, she threatened that the wedding has to be cancelled. The bridegroom reportedly went to his in laws house and bashed them saying quits to the wedding. Later lodged a complaint before police demanding refund of the money he has already spent.

Police called the accused and advised them to return the money by this 15th.

The bride groom now thanks God stating that he is saved because the incident took place before the wedding, if it was made after the wedding, one false complaint from the girls side, he would have been put behind bars.

COUPLE COMMITT SUICIDE;

An issueless couple committed suicide at K.Badaga yesterday.

According to police Nagabhushan, 45 and his wife Gita allegedly hung together from the ceiling to death at their estate line house.

MLA VISITS HOSPITAL, GP

MLA Mr.K.G.Bopaiah yesterday visited government hospital at Siddapur and Gram Panchayth offices at Siddapur and Maldare.

People complained to the MLA about various problems in the hospital they alleged shortage of medicine and doctors. Mr.Bopaiah assured to take immediate action.

Visiting the Mandal Panchayaths, he advised them to implement the government projects properly. He also instructed the GPs to hold a special meeting to dispose off the waste at forestland, as they have objected to it.

WATER OF NO AVAIL;

While water level in dams and rivers are rising due to heavy rainfall in Kodagu, people depending upon Chikli water reservoir water for cultivation face acute shortage! The reason? Water from the reservoir never reaches destination.

The picture here is a clear proof to show how water is being wasted half way.

The waters users association president Mr.Nanda alleged that the 11 kilometer long canal is in a highly dilapidated condition. The water hardly flows upto 2 kilometer and spreads. Even the crest gates in the reservoir are badly maintained. Though the irrigation department had to open the gate by June, it is not yet done in spite of the fact that there is plenty of water.

He says that farmers depend upon this water to irrigate around 446 acres of land.
