RIVERS AND STREAMS OVER FLOW IN KODAGU;

The rainfall, which had weakened since a week in Kodagu has gained momentum and is lashing the district since two days, lifting the level of water in rivers and streams to a dangerous level.

The temple town Bhagamandala is cut off from the world with the confluence of Kaveri, Kabnnika and Sujyothi flowing above the bridge and on the roads. Bhagamandala registered 7 inches of rainfall in hours taking the total figure to 7 inches. It had received 79 inches of rainfall till date during last year.

Traffic is hit in many parts like Napoklu, Balamuri, and Hoddur with rivers overflowing.

The water level in Harangi reservoir has risen to 8.5 feet. The inflow of water is 7076 cusecs, while it was 1314 cusecs, last year.

Madikeri received3 .88 inches of rain fall in hours, Somwarpet 1.93 and Virajpet 3.43 inches in 24 hours.


CONTROL ROOM OPENED;

The Deputy commissioner Mr.Subhodh Yadav held a special meeting to tackle the flood situation and said that a control room is opened in his office to attend to emergency works. He said that the office will be open 24 hours and people in need of assistance pertaining to flood relief may contact them.

IT RAINS ORANGE!

The villagers from West Nemmale, Balele and Kanur reported that the watercolour of the rainfall was of orange colour, yesterday.

They stated that some of them have stored the water for verification. Their yards, roof and all the places where water was poured turned red, the excited villagers said.
