MORE THAN 55% VOTING IN KODAGU

Madikeri Dec. 19 More than 55% casted their vote in Kodagu for Zilla Panchayath and thaluk panchayath elections. Overall it was peaceful.

In some villages of Virajpet thaluk like Thoochamaker, balyamandur, Bellur, kothur, kanoor, kirugur and Nadikeri More than 70% franchised their vote.

In Mayamudi village Panchayath some voters could not cast their votes. They complained to the M.L.C Arun Machaiah. In Thithimathi reserve constituency also same problem occurred. The absence of identity card stopped them from voting.

The M.L.C Arun Machiah (JDS), Ex. Minister Suma Vasanth (Congress) the sitting M.L.A H.D..Basavaraju (BJP) have voted in Mayamudi, Thithimathi and Gonikoppal booths respectively. The aged freedom fighter Mallengada Chengappa voted with the help of his daughter in law.

In Madikeri thaluk tension created when a news spread about the assault on the JDS candidate at Hodavada village. Then it was calmed down.

In Somwarpet thaluk the sitting M.L.A B.A.Jeevijaya (Congress) had voted in Biligeri booth and the Ex. M.L.A Appachu Ranjan voted in Kumbur booth

Devamma (75), Lakshmamma (80) voted at Hebbale booth and Kamalamma (78) in Kudlur booth with the help of relatives

Jeevijaya the M.L.A. criticised the anti campaigning by congress leader K.P.Chandrakala against his son Sanjay who has contested in Hanagal Zilla Panchayath constituency. Chandrakala denied the allegations..
