HUTTARI ENTHRALLS KODAGU PEOPLE;

Huttari, the festival of harvest was celebrated all over the district with great joy.

Men and women from all communities, owning paddy fields walked to the fields by shouting ‘ poli poliye ba, kaverammera Bhandara dumbh ba’, inviting more and more harvest to come.

The first harvest was cut after 930 p .m and distributed to people who worship it. Temples, houses and vehicles all over Kodagu is seen decorated with the cuttings of the first paddy crop, today.

The Codava National council, led by N.U.Nachappa also celebrated the festival at Capitol Village near here yesterday.

The traditional delicacies like Tambuttu, kadubuttu, payasam was prepared in all the houses.


IDENTITY CARD COMPULSORY;

A communiqué from the Deputy commissioners office said that the identity cards are compulsory for the voters to cast their vote in the coming ele ction.

It is informed that the voters have to produce either identity card or documents like Driving license, Passport, ration card, Passbook, telephone bill etcetera to prove their identity. The list includes 19 identity documents.

CONGRESS EXPELLS REBELS;

The district congress has expelled seven rebel candidates contesting against party members in the ZP and GP elections.

The DCC president Veena Achaiah has said that H.J.Guruswamy, H.S.Ashok, H.M.Kalaiah, H.C.Sannaiah, C.Abdulla, Bhuvaneshwari and Satyavathi from different constituencies are removed from the party and it is informed to KPCC.
