116 CANDIDATES ARE IN THE FRAY

116 candidates are in the field for Kodagu Zilla Panchayath elections for 29 seats. 183 candidates are contesting for 49 Thaluk Panchayath seats in three thaluks.

In Madikeri thaluk for the 7 Zilla Panchayht seats 27 candidates are contesting.Congresss, B.JP and JDS have fielded for all the seats.S.P has fielded for three and 2 independants are contesting. .In Madikeri thaluk Panchayath 39 candidates are contesting for 11 seats. Oher than the major parties BSP and SP have fielded each one candidate along with independent candidates.

In Somwarpet thaluk for the 11 Z.P.seats 48 remain in the field Here some CPIM candidates and the rebel congress candidates also facing the electionas.79 persons remain for 19 thaluk panchayath seats in Somwarpet thaluk.

41 candidates left in the field for 11 Z.P.seats in Virajpet thaluk All the National parties and also S.P., and B.S.P and CPIM have fielded some candidates. In thaluk Panchayath for the 109 seats 65 persons are contesting.

The voting will be held on Dec. 19th and counting will be done on 27th.

KUNJANDA RAVI CASE TO BE HANDED TO C.O.D

The recent murder case f Kunjanda Ravi will be handed over to C.O.D.Chief Minister has accepted for it-disclosesd A.K.Subbaiah, the former M.L.C. He was addressing the gathering at Vitrajpet town during a meeting orgonised to condemn the brutal act of murdering.

He seriously criticized the S.P. and other policemen for mishandling the case. He alleged the instigation of RSS and Bhajrangdal. He called to agitate against the anti social elements in Virajpet thaluk.

Subbaiah while speaking supported the Barapole hydro electric project and analysed that the project will not harm the environment or no private land will be submerged. He defended the act of movement of cow to Kerala for slaughtering which gives revenue to the cow owners. So, if any allegation is there against the deceased Kunjanda Ravi that he was involved in cow transporting there is no harm in it, instead it has benefited the cow owners-defended A.K.Subbaiah,.

The district DYFY orgonising secretary Peter Lobo spoke. C.A. Nanda Subbaiah, K.Bopaiah,Mollera Suju, Hafiz Khan, Rakesh Lathif were present.
