TAHASILDAR SERVED FIVE DAY ULTIMATUM;

Residents of Somwarpet, led by Town Panchayath president Mrs.Leela Nirvani have served a five day ultimatum to bring experts to Somwarpet to find the cause for land tremor.

Taking out a procession after holding three hour bandh at Somwarpet, they picketed Tahasildars office and charged him with dereliction of duty. He was questioned why experts were not brought to the town when residents are living with bated breath since a month.

Large number of people representing different organizations took out a procession in the main streets and handed over a memorandum to the Tahasildar.

EDUCATION IN THIS GOVERNMENT SCHOOL IS NOT FREE;

Though the government has declared free education to girl students and poor, the government higher primary school at Madapur is charging between three and five hundred rupee per student for studies! Though the rule says that only parents could be appointed for betterment committee, this school has public and even the husband of the head mistress in the board!

The block education officer Mrs.mamatha had a first hand experience of the irregularities in the school yesterday.

The officer paid a lightening visit to the school on numerous complaints being lodged to her and heard the tale from school staff who said that the betterment committee has insisted on collecting the money. BEO was not shown records with an excuse that they are in HMs house!

Mrs.Mamatha immediately called a special meeting and insisted on returning the excess amounts collected from children. Even the children who were eligible for free studies were charged rupees, 300, 400 and 450 for 8th, 9th and 10th standard. She also instructed to form the betterment committee as per the guideline.

She assured that the guilty will be punished and the mistake will not be repeated.
