BJP TO PICKET CM’S HOUSE;BJP MLA from Madikeri, Mr.K.G.Bopaiah will picket the Chief Ministers house along with his supporters on September 12th. Informing this in a press conference here today, he alleged that the government is showing apathy towards the district and has released only rupees six crores towards the rain damage. Whereas the damage estimated were rupees 29 crores. He alleged that the government has released only one crore during the last season. District had incurred a loss of more than twenty crore even during last monsoon. He informed that members from about 26 gram Panchayats from Madikeri constituency will come in busses to Bangalore and take part in picketing. Mr.Bopaiah will also demand rs.400 crore royalty from Government to Kodagu. He explained that Kodagu sends water to Kabini, Harangi, Hema and KRS. In the 800 cusecs of water that will be stored in those reservoirs, about four hundred cusecs flows from Kodagu. Hence the government should do pay royalty to Kodagu which could be utilized for its development. He informed that an all party agitation would be held at a later date to press the demand after picketing on 12th. YOUTH ELECTROCUTED;In a heart-rending incident, a youth who tried to save his younger brother and an aunt died of electrocution at Valnur Tyagathur near Siddapur. Twenty-year-old Saadali is the young, only bread earning lad of a Muslim family was the fates victim. Saadali heard screaming from inside the house yesterday morning. He rushed to find his baby brother and aunt struggling to detach them from a hanging wire. The aunt was caught as she tried to pull the boy away from the wire as he began shouting after touching it. Saadali pulled both the victims away by holding the wire in his hand. But the wire would not leave him. He fell dead on the spot. His aunt and the baby brother are hospitalized with burn injuries and boils. Saadalis father has long ago deserted the family and his mother lives in Kerala. He was looking after his brother and two aunts. Mescom officials and Mandal Panchayath office bearers visited the spot. Villagers demanded rupees one lakh compensation to the victim’s family. HANGS TO DEATH;Disappointed with life, a desperate lover yesterday hung himself from a tree at Virajpet. Vananda Subramani, 26 hung from a tree behind his house allegedly after a phone call from his friend. His close circles said that he had an affair with a girl from Mysore since eight years and her refusal to marry him led to this extreme step. Police are investigating. SOMWARPET BANDH ON SEPTEMBER 2The Somwarpet Town panchayath has called for a three hour bandh on September two protesting negligence by the district administration. The president Mrs.Leela Nirvanappa stated in a letter that the TP has taken this step as the district administration is ignoring the grave problem the residents there are facing due to rattling of earth. She stated that the administration has not bothered to establish the cause for it or found a solution to come out of it. According to her, the call given by the TP is supported by Chamber of commerce and other organizations. Bandh will be observed between two to five o clock. HQA TRANSFERRED;Head quarters assistant Mr.Subramanyam is transferred to Kolar with a promotion as an assistant commissioner. He had served in the district since 2001. |
