MAGISTERIAL ENQUIRY ORDERED;

The DEPUTY COMMISSIONER Mr.Subodh yadav told here that magisterial enquiry is ordered to inquire the death incident of an under trail in Madikeri prison recently.

His reaction came as this correspondent enquired about the progress in the controversial death of an unmarried under trial who begot a child inside the prison and died under suspicious circumstance.

Yesterday, office bearers of Human rights association, mahila Pratishtana and Vishwa Hindu parishath called a press conference and urged exhuming the body of Geetha as her death is surrounded by mystery.

Spokes persons Mr.Hema Chandra and Mrs. Vijaya Vishnu Bhat alleged that the police report is contradicting the doctor’s report and a repost mortem has to be conducted.

They stated that though the jail authorities established the death as a suicide, the real cause of it has to be probed. They remarked that the undertrial lady gave birth inside the prison and there is possibility of her death leading to other investigations. Mr.Hemachandra informed that the matter was also referred to the Human Rights authority.

The spokes persons also urged the authorities to handover the orphan baby which is in the custody of a recognized organization as per the direction of women and child welfare department.

THESE BIRDS ARE CENTRE OF ACTION;

Hundreds of cranes are attracting visitors at Napoklu, near Madikeri.

Napoklu, which loses link from this world during monsoon as water inundates land around it, is a favorite place for these cranes which migrate during this season.

They perch on the branches of trees in a huge area. They migrate again after winter. Cranes have started to occupy trees at Virajpet also since few years.


PEOPLE DEMAND SHIFTING OF PRIVATE BUSTAND;

Residents of Madikeri and owners of private busses yesterday urged the transport authorities to shift private bus stand which is causing chaos each day.

The demand came in a meeting called by the Road safety committee and Rotary club.

RTO Mr.Satyanarayan Prasad presided over the meeting. Tahasildar Mrs.Tulsi assured the gathering that the deputy commissioner would be briefed about the proceedings. Publics, bus owners and police officials presented their suggestions.
