KODAVA AS ADVISOR TO ARMENIA

Kumbera Sheru Subbaiah from Kodagu has been choosen as advisor for Rodent control in Republic of Armenia.

Mr.Subbaiah has been representing the team of United Nations which is keen to eradicate rodent population which is playing havoc with their agriculture products.

45 % of Armenia depends upon agriculture and is struggling to wipe out Rodents since it became independent from the clutches of Russia twelve years ago.

Mr.Subbaiah has traveled wide sharing his knowledge about Rodent that exist differently in different places. He has found around 15 types of rodents, which keep the agriculturists and farmers all over the world worried. He is opted by countries for his unique ways of controlling the rodents in a eco friendly manner. Even in Armenia, he is teaching the communities how to control rodents by keeping owls. The population of owls is being increased in the country as it is an effective way to bring balance. Killing rodents with poison is the last resort he advices.

Sheru subbaiah is the first person in India who invented rat cakes being sold in the market today. He has also published a book on their control and behavior. He is also an expert advisor in integrated pest management.

UN TEAM TO VISIT;

Meanwhile, a team of United Nations will visit Kodagu for three days from this 24th to study the nature and agricultural crops being grown with the use of organic manure. Mr.Ajay Rastogi, based in Delhi, would lead the team of Food and Agriculture Management.

Mr.Sheru subbaiah disclosed that the team would interact with agriculture giants like TATA coffee, BBTC, planters associations and University of Agriculture College during the visit. The team wishes to propagate quantifying the products through pollination and will also study the methods adopted by planters to control berry borer.

POLICE BREAK LIQUOR RACKET;

Kodagu police and excise department yesterday seized a lorry transporting 25 cans of illicit liquor and arrested two persons at Kodagu – Mangalore border at Sampaje.

The team led by Inspector Sundar Raj gave a hot chase to a mini lorry that sped away in the border gate, sensing trouble. One person tried to escape by jumping down while the driver tried to zoom away in vain.

Though the lorry looked emty at first sight, thorough inspection revealed the fact that a huge box type compartment was made underneath to carry cans and would be covered with plywood.

Kerala based accused Rafiq and Shaji are under arrest. They revealed that Liquor was being transported from mangalore to kerala and the smuggling was going on since long.
