LAND HOLDER RALLY DECIDES TO FIGHT, ULTIMATUM TO GOVERNMENT;
In a mammoth rally held here today by the land holders, it
was decided to continue their fight till the right over tree is granted to them
and an ultimatum of a month was served to government to settle the issue. Addressing the rally, the president of the state farmers
association Mr.Puttannaiah defined the price and loan policy for the farmers as
unscientific and urged the governments to look into matter with a practical
vision. He announced that fifty thousand farmers would lay seize to the NABARD
head quarters in the state shortly to change their apathetic attitude towards
farmers. Speaking on the occasion, former MLC Mr.A.K.Subbaiah called
upon the audience to stage continuous protest against the forest department and
stall its activities, as the department is the main cause to have snatched the
right over the trees away. He lambasted the Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu and
said that he is unaware of his powers and sits on the appeals given by
landholders, with out implementing anything. Attikatte Jagannath, T.C.Ananth Subbarao and others spoke on
the occasion. Mr.Jagannath announced
that a protest would be held at Chikmagalore and Hassan on November 8th
and 9th in front of Coffee Board to protest the apathetic views of
the board and government towards agriculturists. |
