CAUVERY FESTIVAL AT NEW YORK

 

The Staten Island at New York witnessed a different air of culture on this 17^th. People clad in Kodava traditional dresses took the 150 odd audiences by surprise. In the place of Disco or Jazz, the melodious songs on Cauvery  echoed the hall and colourfully dressed Kodavathis’ danced to the tune.

 

Well, Kodavas living in New York were celebrating Cauvery Festival on 17^th, the day people of Kodagu were worshipping Cauvery here on the day of Teertodbhava. While thousands of devotees were taking holy dip at the confluence of Cauvery, here, the audience at New York listened to the tips on Cauvery and her Spiritual background.

 

While the programme was given by the Darien Club chairman from Kodagu, Mr.K.P.Uthappa, and team of COPs school, Gonicoppal, it was organized by Dr.Medappa couple.

 

While Mrs.Yamini Muthanna performed Bharatanatyam , the students of COPs  performed traditional dances and delivered talk on Cauvery, reports Sajni Poovaiah from Denver Colorado and Yashoda from New Jersey.
